Welcome to the Collectable Thingummies website

Peter & Gilly Greenhill had a collectables store in Wimbledon Village in the 1970's called 'Thingummies', which specialised in everything hand made, including figures, books, toys, clothes, jewellery, boxes, objets d'art, rocking horses, dolls, paper toys, photographs, posters, etc, reflecting the magic of times past.

The store also acted as the home for The British Toymakers Guild which, since 1955, has represented the interests of British toymakers who have produced toys made by hand. Exceptional Guild members have included Yootha Rose who founded the organisation, the irrepressible Sam Smith, Ron Fuller, Alan Quincey, John Wilson, Vicki Watts, Maggie Wareham, Caroline Watt, Ken Guy, Doreen Masterson, David Plagerson, and Roger Copple. A roll call of outstanding abilities.

Occasionally work by one or two of these artists will appear in our Sale Room.

This site specialises in items of a retrospective and antique nature. We will be searching out items from Britain and the European continent and farther afield.

Our influences stem from an eclectic background of sculpture, sixties fashion and beauty photography, theatre, puppetry, production of miniature toys , miniature figures and heraldic design. We hope you will enjoy browsing amongst our selections.
